Being a Frontend Engineer at Mercadona Tech

We like to say that we, engineers, are product-minded engineers. We don't see the technology as a goal but as the cost we pay to achieve our goals, which is Selling Lettuces. This mindset makes us participate in all the stages of the process and collaborate with other roles such as Product Managers, Product Designers or Operations Managers, not just implementing the solution.Because we also like to say that we are data-driven, we have access to relevant data that lead us to make decisions. This makes us aware of what exact impact has had on what specific action we did as individuals and as a team.
All we do are feedback loops and so we are always looking for ways to maximize these while minimizing its size and cost. An example of this is one of our favorite Extreme Programming practices: TDD. It helps us keeping things simple and avoiding the overengineering!

Technology at our Frontend team:

We have our CI/CD structure set up with Jenkins (+Docker), and we deploy several times each day.
Our stack is React, and we follow an Event-Driven Distributed Architecture.
We add tests to everything (really, everything!) and we have an internal tool called Bodyguard responsible for our e2e tests.
Sentry, Kibana, and Grafana are used to monitor everything going on.

We try to share as much code as we can across services, so we publish some projects as Open Source or in the internal PyPI repository. You can get an example with our Wrapito tool.

About You

As a Product Engineer in our dynamic e-commerce project, we seek an individual with a unique blend of technical expertise, creativity, and a deep understanding of the e-commerce & logistics landscape. As the ideal candidate, you are passionate about clean code, feedback loops, and Extreme Programming, but if you never put it into practice - don't worry. We will show you the way!
